Here are some of the hottest new restaurants that opened in the Raleigh area in 2015.

The beginning of the year welcomed Carolina Ale House to the Glenwood South region. This restaurant offers American bar food and a great environment for watching the game or grabbing a beer with friends.

Basan, offers modern Japanese cuisine in the downtown Durham at the American Tobacco Campus. They claim they are the best sushi in Durham has to offer.

Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen opened in Downtown Raleigh this year and might be your go to place for Southern comfort food in the city.

P.G. Werth’s mixes old-school comfort with new-school technique on Morgan St.

Ashley Christensen, the creator of downtown other favorites Beasley’s and Chucks, opened another restaurant in downtown Raleigh in June. Death & Taxes is a “swanky New American spot with an open kitchen & an emphasis on wood-fired fare served family-style”

Another addition to Glenwood South is the Raleigh Beer Garden which offers 350+ beers on tap.

These full service restaurants aren’t the only new kids on the block. Rise Biscuits & Donuts of Durham plans to open six franchises in the Triangle. The Triangle got two new burger spots in Burger 21 and Burger Bach plus three new pizza chains Mod Pizza, Blaze Pizza and Uncle Maddio’s .

As exciting as it is to get new restaurants in the area Raleigh residents hate to see local favorites go such as Crowley’s, Irish pub Tir Na Nog, 518 West Italian Cafe and Tyler’s Tap Room at Seaboard Station.
