First Quarter Gains for Downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh gains seven new retailers and restaurants in the first quarter of 2016

Now that 2016 is almost halfway over we can fully assess the first quarter of the year. Downtown Raleigh has grown in popularity and size over the past few years so this growth is nothing surprising. The retail and restaurant market added eleven new retail and restaurant concepts to its street-level shop spaces in the Downtown Area.

Four of those eleven new businesses were moved in almost before the closing business before them was moved out. Talk about a hot market! The latest report released by the Downtown Raleigh Alliance shows that ten of the eleven new businesses downtown were restaurants, ranging from a several locally-created dining concepts and one organic health food chain. Three of the six closing restaurants and shops from the first quarter have already been leased, converted and re-opened under new concepts and new ownership.
