Low Cost Home Remedies!

Have you ever thought of using…

Many times we can find home remedies using items already found in our homes, and they can be cheap! Read more below from HouseLogic about how things like crayons and toothpaste can help cure some of your home’s ailments.

CrayonsHave a scratched wood floor that needs some help? Find a crayon that matches your flooring and fill in that scratched area (be sure to color in the lines). Next buff the area until it shines! Have a deeper scratch? Try using a permanent marker. Looking for something that will blend with a polyurethane or water-based finish? Use a walnut or pecan and grind it into the scratch. The oil from the nut will provide a nice shine that blends in with your floor.

If your drain gets clogged, try using Alka-Seltzer tablets. Drop 3 tablets down the sink followed by a cup of white vinegar. Wait 15 minutes and clear the drain with boiling water. Make sure that you do not try this immediately after using a commercial drain cleaner.

ToothpasteEver thought of using toothpaste to clean your walls or patch a hole? Using a putty knife or butter knife, smooth non-gel toothpaste into the hole. Next sand the spot to smooth the surface. Toothpaste can also be used to remove crayon marks. Grab your favorite (non-gel) brand and a scrub brush and wipe away until the marks are gone!

If you find yourself with a stripped screw, use a hacksaw and cut into the top of the screw. This will allow you to create a new groove for the screwdriver!
